Are religious teen girls more likely to get pregnant then girls who do not practice their religion?
This article talks about teenage pregnancy on the rise. Not only is the article talking about how much teenage pregnancy has risen, then are also talking about which types of teenage girls become pregnant. Researches who have done a study states that they \ teenagers who are religious have higher rate in teen pregnancy, as opposed to teens who are not religious. Why? Because religious teenagers do believe that abortion is wrong, because that’s what their religion tells them. On another note, teenagers who are not religious are less likely to carry to term because since they don’t practice a religion, then believe that abortion is right. The top five states that have the highest teen birth rates are Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, and Arizona. The state that is the most religious? Mississippi. Teenage pregnancy is on the rise, and with more girls being having babies, it just brings up the states birthrate to unbelievable numbers.
I think that this article could have some faults to it. The article doesn’t state that reporter talked to individual religious teens themselves to find out reasons why they carry to full term. These facts could have been based on numbers done in a survey that people took. I also think that this article is somewhat scary because so many young teenage girls are becoming mothers at such a young age. I think that religion might have something to do with it, but I also believe that the non religious girls carry to full term as well.
