Walking around the halls at Pascack Valley High School, you won’t just notice the fresh faces of students, the shuffling of feet as students are transferring themselves to class, but you will also discover the different ways to circulate the school, see what events are taking place, as well as having an input on how some classes are being taught. During my trip around Pascack Valley I noticed details that I never actually noticed before, when walking from class to class.
After walking down a wide staircase I entered a hallway full of bright and colorful poster. These poster give information to students about school clubs, sports games, after school activities, and as well as information about abroad trips. As I continued down the long wide hallway, I came face to face with a trophy case, filled with many different types of trophies. The trophies were an assortment of different sports, such as dance team, hockey, basketball, softball, baseball, and football. These trophies represent how well our school excels in sports, and with a trophy case displayed in that hallway, it doesn’t look like an eye sore.
Moving to a different stair case I saw many different students wondering around the hallways. Some students waved and said hi to one another, while others, carelessly paraded around the hallway, jumping, and giving hugs to other people. While in the hallway I noticed teachers standing by the front door, doing work, and making sure students roaming the hall have a pass. Turning the corner I got a whiff of something in the foods room. At first the smell was somewhat delightful, but as soon as i got into the middle of the hallway, the delightful smell, turned into what I thought was a burnt cookie smell. When I peaked into the foods and nutrition room, I noticed that the students had been baking cookies, and my thought about what the smell was wasn’t misleading, it really was burning cookies.
Turning the hallway again I noticed the ceilings at Pascack Valley. While looking at the ceiling I noticed that some of the tiles on the ceiling were missing, and hanging from the open spot in the ceiling was electrical wire. Walking around the hallways I’ve never realized that there are many missing pieces of the ceiling that have electrical wire hanging from them.
Pascack Valley High School, has many different qualities that make it unique, even if you can only tell when the hallways are emptied. Pascack Valley’s building isn’t the only thing that makes the school unique, but it is also the students whose feet are being shuffled on the floor, the teachers guarding the halls, as well as the students who are being taught different subjects, even if it takes them a few times before they stop burning cookies.
