Glass House Article.

In the article it talks about Stephen Glass wrote articles that were not based on facts. The article names some of his pieces that were fabricated and a couple that were not fiction. The writer also talks about Stephen being a good worker, someone who gets along with everyone, and is open to criticism. At the end of the article the authors quote is " anyone can doubt a bad writer. It's the good ones that need watching" I think that this means that bad writers' work might have to be double checked because they aren't that strong of a writer. Good writers may need watching because they might have become too comfortable with what they do that it might make them think they could get away with a lot more because no one is there to check their work twenty four seven.

News Log Number Eleven

Shaniya Davis,
was a five year old girl from Fayetteville North Carolina. Shaniya was reported missing on the week of November 9th. An amber alert was set out for the child, but without luck. On monday November 16th, search parties discovered the body of the young girl. Shaniya was found about 40 miles away from her home in Sanford, North Carolina. Her bodies was found mixed in a pile of bodies with dead dear carcasses'. Shaniya's mother Antoinette, is in question because she is is being accused of selling her daughter to men. A man by the name of Mario McNeill is also in the custody of the police, after a surveillance video shows him in a hotel with Shaniya. Antoinette is being charged with trafficking, prostitution of her daughter, and felony child abuse. The investigation is still ongoing. ** Antoinette was believed to have owed money to Mario McNeill.

My Response:
I think that this is the worst thing that could happen to a young child. To have your own mother selling your body for money means that there is something wrong with her. I think that all these children that are missing or ending up dead is a tragedy. There are some disturbed people out there that need to be caught. Whoever did this should be found quickly and be processed to the full extent of the law.

News Log Number 10

In Seventeen Magazine there was a new article that sparked a lot of controversy. The issue: girls having guns. The article stated that girls shouldn't have guns because it is dangerous, it isn't "girly" and that it doesn't seem right for girls to own guns. The article's feedback was from two points of view. Girls stated the reasons why it's ok to own guns, while other girls objected the idea. Some girls think it isn't a bad idea because it keeps them safe, they like to hunt, and it gives them a sense of security. Other girls think that it isn't safe for girls, or anyone to have guns. They think that because of all the shootings that occur throughout the year, it's getting more dangerous for people to have guns because they are using them carelessly.

My Response:
About every day close to 250 people get killed or wounded by a gun shot. Unfortunately this is too high of a number for everyday. I think that either way no one should really have a gun for their personal use. People say it's for protection, or for hunting, but it turns out that a lot of people who have it for those reasons end up doing a lot of damage. I think that whether it is a girl or guy, guns should be out of sight.

News Log Number Nine

Is too much texting bad for you? In this article there were experts talking about how too much texting can cause problems, emotionally and physically. Physically, it states that one girl was experiencing pains in her thumb from too much texting. It also states that texting messes up someone's emotional state. The articled states that having a phone vibrating every couple of minutes messes up your mood and state of mind. The article states that texting is dangerous to peoples health, and especially when you are driving.

My response:
I think that it is dangerous when people are texting and driving, but I don't think that texting too much is that big of an issue. People have the power to shut off their phone and get into their own peace of mind. If someone is having pains from texting, then they should realize that they need to calm the texting down.
