News Log Number 26

Should your
boss be able to look through your personal messages? If it's messages from a company phone, or company computer; that is the question in this article. On Monday in California the Supreme Court had a case that hasn't really reached a verdict. The question is if a California city violated a public employee's rights by reading sexually explicit text messages on an electronic device owned by the Police Department. The person who sent the text messages is saying that it is an invasion of his personal space.

My Response:
I don't think that it is an invasion of personal space because the person who sent the explicit text messages were using a COMPANY phone. If you are using a company phone you should be aware that what you send could be traced right back to you and your employers could know what you are doing. If you are using a company phone, computer, or anything that belongs to the company that you work for; employers should have the right to check into what their employees are doing.
